Chuck Engberg's Recovery Journey
Donation protected
November 5th, 2023 was the first day of a journey that has taken Chuck and Denise Engberg on a path that few could imagine walking. A stage 4 cancer diagnosis, major abdominal surgery, sepsis, chemo, viruses, and encephalitis resulting in 2 weeks in a coma, on a ventilator, only to wake up paralyzed is just a brief summary of the last nine months. The full story is much too long and difficult for this space and can better be understood by visiting and reading the Chuck Engberg's CaringbridgeLink. Throughout, Chuck and Denise have leaned into their incredibly strong faith and know that God is right alongside them. So many people have reached out to ask how they can help and support them during this season. This GoFundMe is the response to that question and an opportunity to cover some of the practical needs they will be facing in the next phase of his recovery. Chuck will hopefully be returning home soon after more than 150 days spent in ICU rooms, multiple floors in multiple hospitals, a rehab center and a transitional care unit. He is still facing a lot of challenges that will require at home nursing, physical, occupational, and speech therapy, as well as equipment to promote safety and his best opportunity to recover function within their home. All donations will help to cover some of the gaps between what insurance will cover and what will serve him well as he continues to heal.
The Engberg family appreciates your kind donation and the many prayers that have been sent! Thank you for sharing and spreading the word.
