My name is Chrys, and I am a transgender woman living in Los Angeles.
Two years ago when I lost my long-term corporate job, I frantically scrambled around until I managed to find a new position with a solar sales company. I thought I had found a new industry that would allow me to not only pay my bills and rent but save for the future.
Fast forward to now, multiple solar companies later, and that clearly hasn't happened. Over the last two years, two separate companies have refused to pay me the wages they owe me totaling just under $14,000. I filed with the labor board but they informed me cases typically take 2-3 years after a case number is issued, which means at the earliest I'm looking at getting a response summer of next year. Though I'm trying to get a job that is not 100% commission based, nothing has panned out at this time.
It's insane to me that a company can just decide they don't feel like paying you and barely face any repercussions while they ruin your financial situation and your life! I'm out of savings and I'm out of options. I have rent and past due bills that need paying urgently. If there's any way you can help, that would mean the world to me.
Anything helps.
