In December 2024, Christian began experiencing knee pain. As a dedicated Collegiate Pitcher, he pushed through it, determined to finish the season with his team. Despite the pain, he gave it everything he had.
In May, he finally got answers—but not the ones he had hoped for. An X-ray of his knee quickly led to an MRI, and then a CT scan of his lungs to see if the cancer had spread. The results changed everything.
Christian was diagnosed with Metastatic Osteosarcoma, a rare form of cancer that affects only around 3,000 people in the U.S. each year. Thankfully, the tumor is contained to the lower third of his thigh and hasn’t reached any major blood vessels or nerves, which gives him some hope.
However, two worrisome nodules were found in his chest. The Radiologist will determine whether a biopsy of his lungs is needed, but his Oncology team believes chemotherapy may help get rid of them.
The treatment plan is aggressive:
• 2–3 rounds of chemotherapy (each lasting 3–4 weeks)
• Surgery to remove the tumor
• Follow-up chemotherapy to ensure no cancer remains
His biopsy is scheduled for the morning of Tuesday, June 3th and they meet with the Medical Oncologist Thursday, June 5th to discuss his treatment plan.
Christian has always shown grit and heart—on and off the field—and now he’s facing the toughest opponent of his life. We’ve started this GoFundMe to help with medical costs, travel, and day-to-day expenses during this long and difficult journey.
If you can give, we are deeply grateful. If not, please consider sharing this page. Every bit of support means the world to Christian and his family and helps Christian stay focused on healing, recovery and getting back to what he enjoys most, playing baseball.
