Welcome! My name is Cally Smith, and I am starting this GoFundMe on behalf of my dear friend, Chris.

Chris and I were bedside nurses together and went through our entire Master's Program side by side. If you know Chris, you love her! She is not only the absolute best Nurse and Nurse Practitioner but an even better person! I'm not even going to start with her wit ; I could go on for hours. She's hilarious. Chris has a heart of gold and a pretty good hubby, too! If you know and love Chris, you love Steve, her hubby too! They come as a package deal.

Fast forward to yesterday. Chris woke up not being able to move her right side. She was rushed to the ER and diagnosed with a CVA (cerebral vascular accident), or what non-medical professionals call a stroke.

Chris is arguably one of the most talented Nurse Practitioners I have ever met. She is kind, empathetic, and beyond brilliant. I know a lot of our colleagues in the past were trained by her. She was the best preceptor!

She has quite a road ahead of her, and the GoFundMe is to help with the financial burden of being out of work for an extended period of time. We need Chris to focus on getting better!

Any amount helps and will go straight to her husband, Steve. Even if you can't donate monetarily, please share or just pray for my girl. Pray that she remains positive and her fighter attitude shines through physical therapy!

When Steve posted that Chris needed prayers yesterday on Facebook, I received dozens of texts from previous co-workers of ours asking what was going on. Of course, I received that many texts ; she is so loved by her old MICU crew!
