Donate to Chris Ice's Life-Saving Heart Surgery

Hi, my name is Michael Rodman. My best friend Chris Ice and his wife Sylvia are going through a nightmarish experience brought upon by an autoimmune condition effecting his heart and lungs, called sarcoidosis. This journey began a little more than two years ago, but now has led them to Chris having to have heart transplant surgery. He is currently under the care of doctors at Duke Medical Center awaiting a heart to become available. Before this Chris was as healthy as anyone. He was recently retired from a 33 year career as first a fireman/police officer in the West Palm Beach area of Florida and then moved to the Hendersonville, NC area and continued to serve his community as a police officer, then a sheriff's deputy until his retirement. In retirement he got a CDL and drove a truck for a local construction company for a few years. As he finally started to just enjoy the pursuits of retired life, metal and wood working and participating in activities at Biltmore Church and travel. The picture provided shows Chris and Sylvia at a ruins in Israel during a trip we took with church friends in 2019. Although Chris is admitted as an inpatient to the Duke Medical Center, Sylvia is staying at a nearby hotel contracted with Duke Medical Center, but the cost of which is out of pocket. It is expected that she will be there 6-8 weeks to support Chris and be available throughout this process moving forward. My humble request to everyone who has ever experienced personally or through the life of a loved one an unexpected and possibly life threatening disruption of their lives to feel compassion and give generously to help the urgent need of these truly incredible people, who my wife Cindy and I cherish dearly as our best and closest friends. Our prayers for them is that God will speak to the hearts of those who read this and they will allow themselves to be His hands and feet to provide for this great financial burden they must bear as Christ continues to strengthen and encourage them through this most challenging time in their lives.
