Greetings!
Our mom, Charlotte Hanson (Warrant), was in for a routine checkup in June of 2024, and her doctor from Ridgeview in LeSueur ordered several tests and scans to check her over head to toe because of some heavy leg symptoms she was describing.
One of the CT scans revealed a stage 3a lung cancer in her left lung and a stage 1a lung cancer in her right lung. The two cancers are entirely different types of lung cancer and just happened to be found concurrently.
She was referred to Mayo Health Systems in Mankato, where the doctors, nurses, allied health staff, and technicians have provided excellent care to her.
She’s received a six-week course of chemotherapy concurrent with a six-week daily treatment of intense radiation on her left lung. The doctors are confident that this will take care of the cancer in the left lung.
She has just started radiation treatment on her right lung, and the doctors are confident in their approach that this will be something that works well.
The good news to all of this is that our mom is covered by a great health insurance program, which has covered nearly every medical bill incurred for this life-saving treatment.
She’s had to cut back on her work schedule significantly due to the rigorous demands of the different appointments, therapies, and tests/scans, which has put a huge crimp in her ability to pay the other bills that aren’t medical, like rent, food, car payment, auto insurance, and others.
We are asking that you help financially to the best of our ability. We’ve budgeted for and cut costs around her life, along with our own lives, to make sure that she can continue to focus on her health and long-term wellness.
We appreciate any and all support that you can give!
