Dear Team Cece!
For those of you who have met and spent time with Cece Lowe, you undoubtedly were taken by her bright and infectious smile, positive attitude, and playful personality. To our family, Cece has been a significant part of our support network as a classroom aide to our son. So much of his success these past three years has been partly because of her. My whole family has benefited tremendously from her involvement. She has meant a lot to many of the kids at our elementary school. She is so engaging and a great role model to them all. When Miss Cece is on the playground, it's like watching moths to a flame - the kids seem to flock to her side. She's a positive presence for our kids, a good friend and colleague, and overall just a genuinely good person.
About a month ago, Cece had an unexpected medical event that resulted in brain surgery and limited mobility to the left side of her body. Cece spent (four weeks?) at Kaiser Hospital, first in intensive care, followed by time in a recovery unit where she could get the daily Physical and Occupational therapy she needed to start her recovery journey. Cece has come a long way in her healing, but has more to go. She is in good spirits but still struggles to walk and use her left arm. She is currently living at home with her family and continuing with her therapies to regain physical mobility. Cece still has one more surgery coming up in May.
I'm setting up this GoFundMe because my family and I deeply care about Cece and want her to be able to focus on getting better without the added stress of medical expenses. I know many people in her orbit feel the same way and have been wanting to do something to show support and love. Here is one way we can all come together in support of Cece.
Any donation amount is appreciated, and your support is felt. We ultimately want to reach a goal of $10,000 to help her get past initial financial hurdles.
Here is a brief message from Cece:
To All,
Thank you for supporting me during this journey.
First things first, I would like to say if this message is all over the place (my bad ), I’m using my right hand to type this and hope I’m able to express my feelings, thoughts, and gratitude.
Thank you so much for your well wishes, blessings, positive thoughts, and prayers while I am “vacationing”. I deeply appreciate each of you for supporting me through this recovery journey, and I have been making lots of progress.
I’m no longer in a wheelchair or needing to have someone by my side to assist me. It has been a wild ride. I’m just trying to be really patient with myself.
I typically present myself as a “strong independent woman,” however, I have been very humbled and needed to learn how to lean on and accept help from others, which can be very overwhelming (including this GoFundMe) and is a pretty big pill to swallow. I’m grateful for the huge community support! You may not be aware, I had a stroke and part of my skull needed to be removed to help reduce the swelling (resulting in my wearing of a helmet, I refer to it as “The Dome” in the picture). I will have surgery on May 20th and will have the bone reattached. I will not need to wear “The Dome” as Humpty Dumpty is getting put back together!
This surgery is sooner than the doctor anticipated!
My goal for this summer is to push headstrong (ha ha) and walk without a brace and or cane and to continue with therapies. I look forward to returning to work for the next school year.
I miss everyone's smiles and laughter and bright conversations. Most of all, I miss the kids! Thank you, everyone, for all the positivity. I can feel it through spirit. I will keep you updated with my recovery journey! And hope to see everyone soon!
Thankfully,
