Hello, I'm Andrea and I've had the opportunity to meet and become friends with this gracious soul, Cathy Yarborough. Right now, Cathy needs our help.
Catharine Yarbrough is a woman of many talents and passions. She was a teacher in the Coolidge School District in Arizona, where she inspired her students to learn and grow every day. She is also an award-winning seamstress and the owner of Sawtooth Stitchery, where she creates beautiful and unique pieces, alters dresses for weddings, and the perfect prom, and repurposes well-loved dresses. She is a friend to many in her community, always ready to lend a hand, a smile, or a word of encouragement.
A sudden and unexpected challenge
On July 19th, 2024, Cathy suffered a stroke that left her with partial paralysis on her left side. She was rushed to the hospital, where she received quick treatment. She was transferred to a progressive care neuro unit at another hospital for nearly two weeks, followed by another ten days in an inpatient rehabilitation hospital. She is now back home, but she faces a long and difficult recovery process.
She has a need for support and assistance. As the main income provider in her household, Cathy is struggling to keep up with her bills and expenses. She has medical bills, housing, utility bills, and other living costs that are piling up. She also needs to attain transportation as her car is now unfortunately beyond repair and she needs to attend her physical and occupational therapy sessions multiple times each week, for a few months, which are crucial for her full recovery. She and her partner do have an Etsy shop that provides a small, but inadequate, amount of income selling cutting and charcuterie boards. They can be found at: Sawtooth Wood N Stitch.
She hopes to return to work as a seamstress and teacher as well as resume her regular daily activities, but she needs time and help to get there. Through this life-changing experience, Cathy has also found clarity in her desire to help others by eventually serving those who have also suffered from strokes and other physically debilitating events.
A call for action and generosity!
Cathy is a woman who has helped many of us and our families. She has taught our children, made us beautiful gifts, and supported us in our times of need. Now, she needs our help. Please consider making a donation to her GoFundMe campaign, to help her cover her expenses and get back on her feet. Any amount, big or small, will make a difference and show her that we care. Cathy is a fighter, and with our help, she can overcome this challenge and continue to do what she loves.
Thank you for your generosity and kindness.
This effort is directly supported by Cathy and her son, Gerry.
