My brother-in-law is currently in the hospital facing major surgery any day now. He went to the ER last Thursday evening with extreme abdominal pain and was admitted early Friday and diagnosed with acute diverticulitis along with micro perforations in his colon. The doctors at first were hopeful that, with antibiotics, the condition could be resolved. However, after several days in the hospital with no improvements, they are now considering a bowel surgery removing part of his intestines. Needless to say, he has been out of work for almost a week now and is experiencing great financial difficulties, including losing his house, car, and phone on top of the medical bills that he is accruing in the process.
