On October 24, 2024, Capt. Mike Helmer, owner/captain of Phil Robichaux Fishing Charters, suffered a massive heart attack, followed by several strokes. His prognosis was grim, and he was only given a 30% chance to survive. Those who are familiar with Captain Mike recognize his tenacity, but he is currently confronting a significant challenge. For Mike, everyday tasks like walking are a daily challenge, and although the timeline for his rehabilitation is unclear, it’s evident that it will require months, if not years, of hard work.

Captain Mike’s wife, Rachel, has been by his side continuously through this difficult time. Mike has been the sole source of income for his family, and it’s very unlikely that Mike will be able to return to his passion. We are creating this page because their medical bills continue to mount.
