**Support Derek and Capone: A Plea for Help**

Dear Friends and Kind Strangers,

I am reaching out to share the story of a remarkable young man named Derek and his beloved dog, Capone. Recently, their lives took a second tough turn when a visit to the vet revealed that Capone has an external malignant tumor that requires removal. Before the surgery can take place however, Capone needs an ultrasound to check for any internal tumors. Sadly, the immense cost of veterinary care has left Derek in a difficult position as a single young man just making enough for rent and bills—one that no loving pet owner should have to face.

Derek's devotion to Capone is truly inspiring. You see, years ago, when Derek was facing the sale of his home he rented and the uncertainty of finding a new place to live, he made a courageous decision. Unlike many, he refused to give up his cherished companion, Capone. With the help of the community and the incredible support from Connecticuts Channel 3's Renee Dinino, Derek found a kind landlord willing to rent to them both. Since then, Derek has been a fantastic tenant, working tirelessly as a single young man to provide for himself and his loyal friend.

Now, Derek is facing a challenge that requires our assistance. The veterinary estimates for surgery are overwhelming, and without the funds needed for Capone's care, this dedicated dog owner is left feeling hopeless. That’s where we come in!
