Donate to Camps International Peru Expedition in 2026

Hi, my names James Gasson, and I’m fundraising to try and make enough money for a 4 week long Camps International expedition to Peru in order to help the communities in Peru, trek to Machu Picchu, and experience Peruvian culture Let me tell you more.

Peru is a poverty stricken country, with some places having no working sewage, barely any access to educational facilities, and poor sanitation overall. Some places are out of reach of surrounding towns due to Peru’s remoteness, and therefore these places are unable to get back onto their feet. Peru also has areas that have relatively harsh environmental conditions, and some people are unable to cope in these areas. Additionally, after the global covid pandemic, Peru has struggled with widespread poverty and famine due to the lack of fresh and sanitary food. But, through this Camps International trip, I will get the opportunity to help change this, and offer my services to people who need them all the way over in the sacred valley area of Peru.

During this trip, I will be able to take part in the Camps International community service scheme, which includes things such as renovating houses, constructing toilet blocks for every house in a village, providing local houses in villages with proper sanitation facilities. I will also be able to get involved with improving the educational facilities, and help in nearby elementary schools and kindergarten. Furthermore, I will be able to develop skills whilst helping the villages through things like building walls, crafting houses for guinea pigs, plastering and painting, and so much more. This is such a great opportunity, and whilst getting to experience the unique and vibrant culture of Peru, I will be helping meet the UN sustainable development goals through reducing poverty, and improving the health, well-being, sanitation and access to clean water.

As well as all this help to the Peruvian communities, I also will be able to take a trip that some may consider life changing. I will get the opportunity to dive into Peruvian lifestyles, and witness the breathtaking views of Colca Canyon. And to complete my visit, I will get to trek through the incredible Salkantay route to the ancient Inca city, and then climb up the world famous Machu Picchu. This journey would be absolutely amazing, and would be an absolute privilege to go on, and tick off one of many people’s bucket list experiences on a trip that I would never forget.
