I am Alex Maloof of Cafe Alejandro, the Purple Coffee Truck. I service Boulder, Colorado, and some surrounding areas. Perhaps you've been out to have a tasty Mocha, perhaps you haven't gotten the pleasure yet.
(Yet!)
I've just celebrated my First Year in business. What a herculean struggle its been every day, every week, every month. But it's mine, and I wouldn't change anything. Except the mechanical trouble that my truck has recently acquired.
The truck has been in use for awhile, but only under my gentle driving and care-full touch for 1 1/2 years, since I started Cafe Alejandro.
Recently at speeds over 35 mph, the truck developed a "speed wobble" and shakes so hard it wants to send it, and me!, right off the road. Absolutely beyond frightening.
Upon a visit to my Mechanic to have a diagnosis, the front end has decided after 20+ years in service, to need replacing. As a commercial truck, this...this is not an easy, or economical thing to accomplish. However, the parts have been ordered, and I am doing my darnedest to bring the truck to the Mechanic as soon as the parts arrive. Potentially as soon as Tuesday the 10th! Then hopefully the truck will be repaired within 4 days and I can be out on the road again! Not sequestered away to local roads and sub-30mph speeds, but letting the truck strut its stuff (it IS Purple!) and fly like an eagle (a biiiig heavy, square-shaped eagle) out on the highway going to sling the tastiest Mochas to other areas again. At races, parks, events, and for people yet to experience the most amazing Mochas possible!
The Purple Truck is my life. I have sunken everything, and all I am into it.
There is no continued business for much longer without this repair, so there is no choice.
When I pick it up from the mechanic...I will owe them $4985.
That...that is nuts. But, commercial anything costs more than everything. But the truck will be good to go for the next 20 years.
And so will I.
To serve all of you the best coffee, with the best vibe, and a smile included with every beverage.
Those of you I've previously met who donate to the Truck Fund, I sincerely thank you. Those I haven't met yet, when the truck is up and running, I look forward to engaging with you for the first time.
The Cafe Alejandro Purple Coffee Truck is intrinsic to Boulder.
All of you are involved in its future.
And I wouldn't be here at all if it wasn't originally for you.
Let's keep the smiles going...
