My name is Kristy, and I am the founder of Wise Owl Wellness. For more than 19 years, I’ve been sharing the healing practices of yoga, meditation, sound therapy, and mindful living with individuals and groups across the country from Virginia to Arizona. Now, I’m ready to root those teachings into a permanent home — right in the heart of Pinetop-Lakeside, AZ.

Why I Need Your Support

I have been traveling to northern Arizona over the past few years to teach yoga at a resort during the summer months, when the heat in Tucson is unbearable. When I was there in August of this year, one woman came up to me after class and informed me that their beloved yoga studio would be closing, due to the current owner retiring at the young age of 82! The studio was going up for sale, and the offer presented itself...would I be willing and able to take it over?

At first, I thought "heck no!", but the woman from class said that she would bring more students with her the next time I was teaching there. So, 2 weeks later, I found myself teaching to 18 people in the pine forests of northern Arizona. There were some current teachers at the studio and a few loyal students who came to check out my teaching style and meet with me. After class, I listened to their individual stories about how much the studio meant to them.

So, I decided to go look at the space. It's lovely. Fully built out with hard-wood floors, a bathroom, and a separate room to see private clients or teach small group classes. It's...perfect. If I could take over the rent, the current local teachers will be able to continue offering their unique and well-attended classes. I would also have a place to teach and play on my monthly visits back to the area. Maybe even some of my Tucson students would join me for a weekend getaway or mini-retreat. This would also serve as a welcoming space for visiting teachers from all over the world.

Launching a wellness studio is a dream, but it takes resources to bring it to life. Our goal is $20,000, which will go directly toward:

Rent and insurance for one year – providing stability and a home base

Props & equipment – mats, bolsters, blankets, singing bowls, and sound instruments

Utilities – keeping the space warm, welcoming, and functional

Community accessibility – ensuring everyone has access to the tools they need to feel supported on their wellness journey
