Help Us Open a Safe Space for Girls Who Need It Most

Hi, my name is Kel’A Armstead and I’m the founder of The Black Girls Workshop Corporation, doing business as The Girls Workshop—a nonprofit created with one person in mind: the little girl I used to be.

Growing up, I didn’t have the tools I needed to thrive. I didn’t know what confidence looked like. I didn’t understand my worth. I experienced things that no child should ever experience—abuse, shame, fear, and complete lack of guidance. I was naive, gullible, and lost. And for most of my life, I carried that silently.

Until one day, I realized that healing my inner child meant helping other girls like me.

That’s when The Black Girls Workshop was born.

We serve youth girls ages 11–18, especially those growing up in the inner city with little access to resources, mentorship, or safe spaces. We teach what school doesn’t. We pour into girls with:
• Classes on confidence, self-worth, and self-love
• Financial literacy, health & wellness, and life skills
• Real talk about dating, boundaries, and emotional safety
• Feminine hygiene products and healthy snacks
• Support, sisterhood, and a space to just be safe and seen

We’ve hosted workshops in public libraries, fed the homeless, mentored girls—but now it’s time for more.

We are raising $50,000 to secure our own community center in downtown Cincinnati. A space just for girls. A space to heal, learn, laugh, grow, and glow.

Your donation helps us:
• Lease and furnish a safe, welcoming space
• Provide hygiene kits, wellness products, and snacks
• Offer weekly empowerment workshops and support groups
• Partner with professionals to teach job readiness and health education

This isn’t just a nonprofit. It’s a movement for every girl who’s ever felt unseen, unheard, or unworthy. And this is your chance to be part of it.

If you’ve ever wished someone had shown up for you when you were younger, please consider donating—any amount helps. And if you can’t give, share our story.

We’re not just changing lives—we’re breaking generational cycles.
Help us give girls the one thing they’ve never had: a place to belong.

With love and purpose,
