On October 18, 2024 Pasco County Sheiff Deputy Buddy Allman (my brother) was in a tragic accident while he was on duty surveying flood waters that the previous hurricanes had caused. When the road that the humvee was sitting on collapsed underneath them. It immediately started submerging and flipped over. A Dade City officer was riding alongside of Buddy and was able to get out. He realized that Buddy was not answering when he called out for him. The officer went back down in a heroic effort to find him. Buddy was trapped inside the humvee.
After sometime he was able to pull Buddy up with the help of two bystanders. CPR was started and he was taken to Advent Dade City Hospital then flown to Lakeland Regional Hospital due to his trauma.
Buddy was surrounded by his family and friends where we prayed over him. With a 2% chance of survival the great team of doctors and nurses placed Buddy on the ECMO (Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation) machine that night.
Buddy stayed on the ECMO machine and the respirator for right a 3 weeks before he finally woke up 11/6/24.
After Buddy woke up he stayed in the SICU unit for a few more days then he was moved to ICU. After spending sometime there he was the transferred to the Bannasch Institute for Advanced Rehabilitation.
Buddy was released from the hospital on 11/27/24 where he has made a miraculous recovery.
Buddy still has a long road ahead of him.
After speaking with the doctor since his release they have determined that Buddy will be out of work at least 6 months to 1 year.
His wife Belinda has had to take a leave of absence from her job and is no longer receiving income. With all the appointments that Buddy has Belinda has to make sure he gets to all of them which is almost everyday of the week.
Unfortunately the bills are still coming in.
