Mental health is something that we all struggle with and can relate to. While battling with severe anxiety & depression, as well as the struggles of being a single parent & the chaos that life brings - Brittany reached out to her Doctor for help. They placed her on new medications that ultimately were a bad match for her. Those medications had a reverse reaction & a suicide attempt took place. Thankfully family, friends & police were able to immediately get her into a medical facility to save her life. Brittany was in a mental health hospital for a week getting the treatment, medical care, therapy, and correct medications she needed. As we all know, even taking the necessary “break” to focus on your health - life doesn’t stop. Bills don’t stop, especially with two children & being the sole provider. She missed a week of work & was placed on family medical leave until further notice. We are trying to lighten her load & help keep her calm while working towards returning to a new “normal”. We were raised to be prideful, independent women, but I think it’s equally important to know when to accept support & let people that love you, help you. Even if you are unable to help financially, we ask that you say a prayer, offer grace, reach out with a kind gesture, words of affirmation, send her a nice message on Facebook, or a simple “me too, I’ve so been there. I’m sorry you’re going through this I’m a listening ear whenever you need to vent.” I think at this point, we all know someone who has attempted/committed suicide. If nothing else, this post helps to raise awareness- to be mindful of those around you, you never know what’s going on in someone’s head, or behind closed doors. Pay attention to the small signs they try to give you to let you know they are not doing okay. Life can change just like that.
