My name is Sam Anderson and I am trying to help raise money for a medical treatment for my lifelong best friend, Britney Fleming.
In September of 2021, Britney was in a car accident. At the time, the accident didn’t seem like a big deal. A couple of weeks after the accident, Britney started experiencing mild symptoms that were thought to be related to migraines.
After an unrelated surgery that December, Britney soon discovered that going back to work was much more difficult than expected. After many attempts of trying to go back to work, Britney’s migraines were uncontrolled, she was regularly dizzy, and she had tunnel vision. She saw her neurologist and they tried a multitude of different treatments and medications for migraines. After months of failed treatments including nerve blocks and a hospitalization, one of Britney’s physical therapists gave a referral and through that referral, it was discovered that she had concussion symptoms that had gone untreated. It was now 10 months after the accident.
The diagnosis of post-concussive syndrome led to a trip to Portsmouth, NH to an eye doctor who helps individuals with concussions. Over the past two years, there have been multiple trips all over New England. These trips include the cost of room, food, gas, and insurance co-pays.
Britney has been advised by medical professionals to try a new treatment option. The cost of this treatment is not covered by insurance and the treatment alone is over $3,000 dollars. The treatment occurs over the course of 12 days and requires Britney to stay in Portsmouth, NH.
Between the cost of the treatment, room, and gas, Britney is looking at a bill of around $5,000 dollars. Any donation received will be going towards covering the treatment cost or any further out-of-pocket medical expenses.
Due to the many symptoms and issues caused by the 2021 car accident, Britney’s entire life has changed. Britney has worked diligently in her life to become a nurse and has been unable to work due to health-related issues since June of 2022. Being on disability for the past 2 years has been heartbreaking for her. Britney is an incredible nurse and dreams of getting back to work.
Her goal is to see if this new treatment will enable her to return to work as a Nurse.
Britney continues to struggle with migraines, post-concussion symptoms, traumatic headaches (from the car accident), and POTs (that was worsened from the car accident/or caused by the accident.)
These issues have caused Britney to lose much of her independence. She is no longer able to drive and faces issues with regular activities.
Any of you that know Britney, know that she has always been a fiercely independent, outgoing, and lively person. Losing her independence and asking for help is something that Britney has never wanted or imagined for herself.
We want to help Britney reach her goal of going back to nursing and regaining her independence and hobbies. To get back into a place where it is safe to work in the medical field as a nurse, the best path forward is the multi-sensory rehab treatment that has been suggested.
Due to the many out-of-pocket costs for health treatments, we are asking for help to cover the cost of this treatment and help Britney gain her independence back.
Thank you so much for any contributions. Your help helps more than just Britney, it helps everyone that knows Britney as well. We all want to see Britney gain her independence back so she can go back to being her fun-loving self. (She's still awesome, by the way.)
