Hey everyone as some of you know me as B.K my name is Brian Klein. Last year on July 3rd 2023 I would be diagnosed with cancer in my thyroid. At first we where in good spirts because they said they caught it very early and it seemed that I would get surgery and they would remove it and most likely I would be done with it and go back to living life. However, after surgery on November 4th things would take a drastic turn. As most surgeons do with cancer cells they send it out to find out what type of cancer it is. This was where things took a turn for the worse. Besides them not be able to remove the whole tumor because it was wrapped around the arty and was very close to my voice box. So the removed what they could and left it as that because they wanted to know what type of cancer it was and then they would treat it as such. When they received the information back from the lab I was diagnosed with a very rare type of cancer called Ewing Sarcoma. According to the doctors At St. Joes they told me that getting this type of cancer in your thyroid is 1 in 200,000,000. they also said because it is so rare they where only able to find a handful of articles to refer to. Now this is where we ran into issues. St. joes could not figure out a way to treat the remaining cancer and gave me a choice to go to St. Barnabas hospital or Morristown hospital. By the time the finally made this decision and them sending me to all different doctors at St Joes where none of them could come up with a treatment plan, my tumor grew even bigger then it was when I first started this journey. They allowed so much time to pass that the tumor grew to be 5.3 centimeters. Since it grew so big it was extremely difficult to swallow anything food, water, medication. Anything I swallowed would immediately make me choke and it was very hard to keep anything down. I ended up choosing to go to Morristown Hospital which thank god I did because compared to St, Joes they are such a better hospital. I started my treatment at Morristown Hospital in June of 2024 almost a full year after I was originally diagnosed. At first I was running into the same issues. The doctors where perplexed on how to treat my cancer and now the doctors told me that it was considered stage 3 cancer. Finally by chance my doctor went on vacation and his partner took over his patients and I was one of them. luckily for me he was somewhat familiar with Ewing Sarcoma and he finally came up with a treatment plan. He told me because how big the tumor was and how much trouble I was having swallowing that this treatment plan is going to be extremely aggressive. So I started treatment in the beginning of August. I figured I would get my treatment and be a little weak and sick for a couple of days and then I be able to go to work until the next round of treatment. I was completely wrong about this. The treatment I am receiving is so strong that it is hard to do the smallest of tasks. I have 12 more weeks of this which will end up being more like 24 weeks. The last treatment I had done two weeks ago I was supposed to get another round the following week but they had me take two weeks off because my body was so weak after the last treatment and they needed me to be stronger then I was in order to receive the next round. This is why I am creating this page. Since I am unable to work and I used up my benefits I am asking for help with my medical bills, medications, and everyday needs. I know it is tough on everyone now a days and things are tight but if you could find it in your hearts and please help me get through this very difficult time in my life I would greatly appreciate it. I don't like to ask for help like this but I have no other choice. Anything you can help out with is so greatly appreciated and even your prayers go a long way. I truly appreciate anything that will be donated and thank you from the bottom of my heart. With your help I will overcome this nasty disease and come through on the other side even stronger. God Bless and Thank you to all.
