Dear friends, family, and compassionate strangers,
We are reaching out to you with heavy hearts to share the story of Brian Hicks—a devoted husband, father of four, and a hardworking member of our community. Just a short while ago, Brian was living his life to the fullest, balancing work and family, until everything changed in an instant.
Brian began experiencing severe back pain, a discomfort he initially brushed off, thinking it might be something temporary. However, after numerous visits to doctors, tests, AND THE DISCOVERY OF 8 BROKEN BONES LATER, the unimaginable happened: Brian was diagnosed with severe multiple myeloma, a type of blood cancer that is both aggressive and debilitating. This shocking news has turned Brian’s world upside down and brought his family into a whirlwind of uncertainty and fear.
In a blink of an eye, Brian and his wife, Heather found themselves facing an uphill battle--not just against cancer, but also against the daunting financial burden that comes with it. Thankfully, BOTH of their employers have been understanding and accommodating about the situation, but with treatment options that are both intensive and costly, Heather has had to make the heartbreaking decision to temporarily take a leave of absence from work without PTO or FMLA eligibility in order to focus on Brian's health and their family.
As you can imagine, the stress of medical bills, daily living expenses, and the need for specialized care is overwhelming. Heather is trying to juggle everything, all while supporting Brian and caring for their four children, who are struggling to understand why their dad is suddenly so ill.
This is where we, as a community, can come together to help. We are starting this GoFundMe campaign to provide some relief to Brian and Heather during this incredibly challenging time. Your donations will directly assist with medical treatments, therapies, and the essential day-to-day needs of their family.
Every little bit counts, and no amount is too small. If you cannot contribute financially, we ask that you share this campaign to help spread the word. More importantly, we ask for your thoughts and prayers for Brian and his family as they navigate this unimaginable journey.
Thank you for taking the time to read their story and for considering supporting Brian and Heather. Together, we can help lighten their load and remind them that they are not alone in this fight.
With gratitude and hope,
