Hi, my name is Jayden and my stepdad, Brandon Horoba, has been one of my biggest supporters in life. While doing what he does best, supporting his youngest son and my little brother, he was hit with a lacrosse ball in the eye.
He has ruptured his globe and had emergency surgery in Denver!
So far, we know it is one of the worst tears the optometrist has seen and has given us the news to plan for permanent loss of vision in the right eye:( Surgery went as well as it could go, and he will have the second surgery in roughly ten days! Surgeon said to plan on a few surgeries.
Update
10/25 1:05 Out of first surgery heading to hotel, long trip ahead tomorrow getting home to Utah.
10/26 Follow up with Denver health, flight change and home!
Retina attachment will be the next surgery, ophthalmologist search starts tomorrow!
10/27 Met the retinal specialist, surgery scheduled for next Tuesday to remove remove blood from the globe to access full extent of damage.
biggest advice from doc was to be LAZY.
Not only has Brandon been a support system for his five kids and wife, he has been a high school coach in the state of Utah for 14 years, mentoring some of the best on and off the field! He has given so much to his community and deserves the best he can get!
Love you, coach and dad!
