In March of this year, my husband Bob, who has been the backbone of our family for decades, had the initial heart attack that has spiraled into a mountain of life-threatening conditions and a lengthy intensive care unit admission in two separate hospitals. The strong, independent handyman our family knows and loves has been faced with every circumstantial health condition related to having a heart attack. He has now been diagnosed with end-stage heart failure and will be needing a life-sustaining procedure known as an LVAD in order to prolong his life expectancy, which is currently one year.

He has numerous obstacles medically to defeat in order to get him there, which includes cardiac rehabilitation, discovering the source of chronic anemia calling for numerous blood transfusions, and physical therapy to regain the strength that he has lost. Being dependent on caretakers to complete his activities of daily living, he is no longer able to work. With exhaustion, I ask for any help towards his road to recovery that includes the overwhelming medical bills and living expenses lost due to this unforeseen situation and not being able to work to provide for his family.
