Hello everyone!

I'm so happy to share that I have gender-affirming top surgery scheduled at the end of October 2025!

Some of you have been on this journey with me since the beginning, and some of you are new!

I started my transition about 8 years ago, when I was 20. I began hormone therapy, and asked everyone to call me Bobby. I am blessed in that I have always been surrounded by loving and accepting people, but it's still been a rocky road; over the years I've had inconsistent access to healthcare, and I have struggled throughout my adult life to take care of myself physically, emotionally, and spiritually.

Three years ago, I thought, "I'm really sick of being so miserable all the time!" and I started making intentional changes in order to live my life more fully. I made new friends, started developing a spiritual practice, and started engaging with my hobbies again. Last year, I got back on hormones, and got a therapist. This year, I finally, legally, changed my name!

I have been longing to get top surgery for many years. I started binding my chest when I was 14, years before I came out to friends and family. However, it's never quite felt like the right time. It is considered major surgery, with a long healing process, and it's a huge financial commitment.

Today, I have steady work that I love, an incredibly robust support system... and health insurance! So, now is the time. It has been a long time coming and I am ready!

Why am I asking for donations? As many of you know, I am self-employed. My work is physical, and requires a lot of upper-body movement. The healing process takes 4-6 weeks, and in that time I will be unable to work.

The estimated out-of-pocket cost for my surgery is roughly $6000. Any and all donations to this fund will go towards the cost of my surgery, and I will cover my own living expenses while I heal. If you are unable to donate, I hope that you will say a little prayer for me!

I invite you all to rejoice with me as I take this step in my journey!

Love,

Bobby
