Blossom is a 9-year-old Coonhound rescued by Bean’s Beagle Dog Rescue, in partnership with the Carolina Coonhound Rescue. She was originally adopted at 1.5 years old from the East Coast and transported to California to her adoptive family. She was brought to the shelter by an animal care person, and initial attempts to reach her family went unanswered for days. Her adoptive family said they didn’t want her anymore. That’s when Bean’s Beagles Rescue in Orange County and Carolina Coonhound Rescue partnered up to save Blossom.
Since Blossom was rescued, her initial veterinary exam revealed she had ulcerated corneas, pneumonia, and a high white blood cell count indicating infection. She was transferred to the ER vet on Saturday, May 24th, put on oxygen therapy and IV fluids. She is dependent on the oxygen to breathe.
We are a small rescue, and Blossom’s emergency medical bill is nearing $10,000 and we’ve already paid $4,000, which drained our account. The emergency vet wants at least $6,000 to keep Blossom until Thursday. We need your help to save Blossom, we’re willing to keep fighting with her as long as she is able to.
As of 5/26, Blossom is eating, standing in her kennel, giving small tail wags when we visit, but she remains dependent on oxygen to breathe. They are trying to wean her off, but she continues to have problems breathing. We need your support to help her through the next few days of care until she is discharged to her foster home. All funds will go to Bean’s Beagle Dog Rescue towards Blossom’s medical care.
