Hey folks,
A year ago, this month (Aug 26, 2023), I had my left foot amputated just below the knee. This was the result of a motorcycle accident I had back in 2014.
After 8 prior surgeries in the past 9 years, including an "ankle replacement," the damage was just too severe, and amputation was the only option I had left.
While I've made some incredible physical improvements over the past year, I haven't quite been able to turn the corner financially or professionally. I've had a couple of part-time jobs that didn't work out because of some of the physical demands. I plan on driving Uber and getting my "Peer Certification" to work with Trauma Patients like myself. Three months ago, I started getting disability payments, but unfortunately, it barely covers a rent payment.
I don't have a car right now, so my main goal is to get reliable transportation, and work towards full-time employment as I won't be able to live comfortably off of Disability payments. Any and all donations will go towards transportation and housing.
I also just got signed on with "Vocational Rehabilitation" who pretty much guarantees job placement and help with housing assistance, both of which I am in dire need of.
Thank you all in advance for your kindness and consideration as I embark on this new and challenging chapter of my life.
While I'm not doing a social media "blast," please feel free to share with friends.
