Help Rescue Pup TACO on his Journey of Recovery

In 2021, over 31 dogs were rescued from a hoarding house and unsanitary living conditions in Weymouth, Massachusetts. Among them was a tiny, frightened chihuahua, now affectionately named, Taco.

Taco had spent years fighting for food and living in filth, with no comfort, and no one to care for him. When he was rescued, he was suffering from paraphimosis and periodontal disease. His little body had suffered more than any creature should.

Our friend Jaime, was one who stepped forward to provide a forever home for one of these neglected pups.

With time, gentleness, and trust, Taco began to come back to life. Because of Jaime’s care and love, he learned to curl up in a blanket in his own bed and have someone to care solely for him. He discovered the joy of fresh food and belly rubs. His spirit is pure and his heart is huge-he was finally getting the life he so deserved.

Today, Taco needs our help.

He recently underwent routine dental surgery to remove infected teeth due to the many years of neglect. Jaime, being the amazing dog mom she is, was staying on top of his care since rescuing him. After the dental surgery, Taco went home to recover and was found lying lifeless on Jaime’s bed. Jaime rushed him to Veterinary Emergency Group in Boston. Taco was suffering from sepsis and remained at the VEG for four long days.

Taco has already survived the unthinkable. With the love of Jaime and the team at Veterinary Emergency Group, Taco is finally home recovering. He still has a very long way to go, but he is back in his own bed and feeling all the love his rescuer, Jaime, can give.

The cost of Taco’s medical care from his dental surgery, to his time at VEG, as well as his continuing care, is well over $20,000 and climbing.
