Help Baby DJ on His Road to Recovery ❤️
On Tuesday, November 7th, baby DJ began acting differently. His mom, Kymarie, immediately sensed something wasn’t right. After being picked up from daycare on Wednesday, she took him to the pediatrician. He was tested for flu, COVID, RSV, and more — all of which came back negative. However, DJ was wheezing and began projectile vomiting. He was prescribed a nebulizer and sent home.
Despite treatment, the vomiting continued. Concerned, Kymarie returned to the pediatrician on Thursday, where more tests were done — again, all negative. She kept in close contact with DJ’s daycare provider, worried about the other children possibly being sick as well.
By Friday, DJ’s vomiting had worsened. He wasn’t able to keep more than an ounce or two of formula down at a time. Kymarie and Donte decided to take him to the ER in Dickinson. While at the ER, the daycare provider asked to speak with her and revealed that on TUESDAY, she had dropped DJ from about five feet onto a hard surface on his head — and she fell on top of his head.
Kymarie immediately had the daycare provider explain what happened to the doctors. A CT scan was performed, which showed fluid in the front of DJ’s brain. The Dickinson ER told the family it was “non-emergent” and sent them home, advising a follow-up at the walk-in clinic the next day.
When the family went to the clinic on Saturday morning, they were turned away due to the severity of the injury. They drove straight to Bismarck, where another CT scan revealed fluid and blood in DJ’s brain. From there, DJ was airlifted to Fargo. Within 30 minutes of arrival, he was in emergency brain surgery to relieve pressure from his brain.
DJ is now in the PICU with a drainage tube in his head to remove excess fluid. He is only 4 months old — and facing a long, uncertain road to recovery.
This is every parent’s worst nightmare. As Kymarie and Donte stay by DJ’s side, they’re facing not only unimaginable emotional pain but also financial burdens — including hospital bills, lodging, meals, travel, and legal expenses.
Please consider donating to support baby DJ and his family during this devastating time. Every prayer, share, and contribution makes a difference. ❤️
