Ava’s Fight Against Methylmalonic Acidemia: Help Us Give Her a Future
Hi, my name is Tiaira Christon, and I am reaching out to you with a heavy heart, but also with the hope that together, we can give my beautiful daughter, Ava Williams, a chance at a healthier life.
Ava is 4 years old, but she has already faced more challenges than most of us can ever imagine. She was born with a rare, life-threatening condition called Methylmalonic Acidemia (MMA). This disorder affects her body’s ability to process certain proteins and fats, leading to life-threatening complications like severe vomiting, dehydration, weakness, developmental delays, and more. Without treatment, MMA can cause coma and even death.
Ava’s journey began just after she was born. Since she was just a few weeks old, she’s been in and out of the hospital for surgeries, treatments, and struggles to survive. She’s already undergone over 30 surgeries, including a liver transplant in October 2023, but unfortunately, the outcome wasn’t as we had hoped. Ava’s condition is still progressing, and now, she needs both a new liver and a pancreas to survive.
We’ve reached the point where Ava’s doctors believe she needs to be transferred to a specialized hospital in Pennsylvania for further treatments and a potential transplant. This move is critical for her survival, but it’s also a huge financial burden. Ava has already spent over 575 days in the hospital, and each day is a reminder of how much she’s been through. She’s had to celebrate all of her birthdays in the hospital, and we’re heartbroken that she has to keep fighting.
As her mother, I’ve never stopped believing in her strength and resilience, but I need your help to give her the care she so desperately needs. We are raising funds to cover the costs of moving to Pennsylvania, medical treatments, travel expenses, living costs, and anything else that will help Ava during this long journey.
How You Can Help:
Donate: Any contribution, no matter how small, will make a difference.
Share: Spread the word about Ava’s story. Sometimes, sharing is just as powerful as donating.
Pray: We believe in the power of prayer, and Ava needs all the positive energy we can send her way.
Ava has already overcome so many obstacles in her short life, and I believe that with your help, she can continue fighting for a brighter future. Thank you for being a part of her journey, and for showing her that there are still good people in this world who care.
God bless you all.
