*Update*
Surgery has happened, it went well and I'm recovering well. But the bills have just come in and it's far far more than I originally expected it to be.
I have raised the goal to reflect the actual cost of my surgery. I still do not expect to raise the full amount by any means, but I just want the goal to reflect what I have shared elsewhere.
I am currently taking commissions again as well, and I am doing discounts/free art on commissions for those who donated.
Please reach out with any questions
This surgery is a long time coming.
Seven years of pain is, hopefully, coming to an end soon. I am hopeful that this surgery will relieve all the pain I've felt for so long.
I have a herniated disk between the C5/C6 vertebrae, I will have a total disk replacement, they will remove the deteriorating disk and implant a titanium disk.
The surgery is scheduled for the 19th of November, and I will be in recovery for 6 weeks.
I'm not sure exactly how much this surgery will cost after insurance, but I do know I will be out of significant work for about 3-6 weeks.
If I can raise even just $500 it will help cover most of my ongoing bills, even if it won't cover any of the surgery costs itself. I'm hopeful insurance will cover the full surgery amount, but there is no guarantee.
The $2,000 goal is based on Google reports for median cost after insurance for the same surgery. But, the amount also equates to about one month of normal income.
I would normally want to take commissions instead of of asking for any donations. I prefer not to ask for anything that I haven't earned. But I cannot guarantee I will have the ability to complete as many as would be needed to raise the money needed.
Though I can offer a discount or even free commission in the future for those who donate.
If you donate you can dm me a screenshot of it to Twitter (@the_aubinator) or telegram (@aubieopossum) and I will give you a personalized discount code. That will be redeemable after 01/01/2025.
All I can do for now is thank anyone who has read this. And if you cannot donate, please share this. Anything helps, even just words of support. Thank you
