Help Ashley's Life Not Be Forgotten
My name is Sara Meza and this GoFundMe is for my sister Ashley who is currently fighting for her life against Stage 4 Cancer.
Back in late February, Ashley started feeling some pain in her left side and it wasn't going away. We took her to the doctor only to find out that she had Stage 4 Cancer. They found masses in her liver, lungs, one of her ovaries possibly will need to be removed at some point and one mass on her spine. The doctors there did not have an oncologist on call to help us right away so it felt like we were thrown into a fight that we had no idea how to handle. As we tried to set up an appointment for an oncologist for weeks, things progressed rather quickly.
Ashley developed pretty bad nausea and not being able to keep fluids down to the point of dehydration. The doctors at our local hospital had to transfer her to another hospital in Austin. She continued to fight her battle and seemed pretty coherent. Then they found more developments besides the cancer.
The dehydration caused her kidneys to partially shut down. So they put her on dialysis to help them hopefully reset and keep working. She was struggling to keep anything down so they had to put a feeding tube in her along with many IVs and Antibiotics to fight any possible infections that are developing in her body. She has a breathing tube as she is currently sedated from her body basically going into shock from being so weak. Regardless, the doctors and nurses have been so helpful in keeping us updated and saying that she is responding well to the treatments. It's been a lot to take in the course of a few days and weeks.
As my dad is willing to take the financial blow of all this chaos in order to protect me from the burden, I can't just sit around and do nothing about it. My dad has been through a lot growing up so it hurts me to see him going through this pain of seeing his daughter suffer.
My older sister Ashley has been the best sister ever. She had the kindest soul in the world. She was so smart and talented in art. She had the purest heart and definitely wasn't afraid to show it. Every person that has ever met her has been touched by an angel. I really hope that her Life will not be left in vain. So this is me asking for help for my family.
Any donation helps. Truly. We are gonna keep fighting this battle no matter what. I hate how money has really affected the medical system in a negative way, making it harder for people to afford help when they really need it. So please if you can help my family through this tough time, I appreciate any help. Sharing her story, sharing this GoFundMe, donating, whatever you can do to help.
