Hey friends,

I'm so excited to have a top surgery scheduled for Nov 4th and I am asking for some help to pay for the parts that insurance won't cover.

As a non-binary queer person it's taken me a long time to believe that top surgery could be an option for me and I'm finally ready to allow myself to pursue greater comfort in my body.

But I need some help!

Just about a year ago, I took a huge risk to start a business focused on meeting a community need. That business, MakeWith, provides workshops on home maintenance, repair, emergency preparedness and other self-sufficiency skills while creating a welcoming space for women, queer/trans folks and folks of color, especially, to learn and practice. In the nine months since we've been open, we've hosted over 50 workshops and helped over 200 people build their confidence and capabilities.

As a solo-entrepreneur, there's really no good time to have a surgery, and having to take several weeks off in the first year of business is certainly less than ideal. While the business is growing every day, I'm still a far ways from being able to pay myself adequately. I've spent every dollar I have (and many I don't have) to build this thing and I really cannot afford to take on any more debt.

This surgery is incredibly important to me and I also cannot wait to experience greater ease, confidence and comfort in my body.

With the help of my supportive partner and MakeWith's amazing community, workshops will continue while I am recovering and I expect to be eligible for financial aid after my insurance covers their portion of the surgery expenses. That said, there is a hefty sum insurance won't even consider.

I am asking for help covering the $2840 due at my pre-op consultation on Oct 16th and $160 for post-up medical supplies.
