Happy Holidays from Archie, Poppy, Lain, and Jared. Lain and I have been preparing to spend our first holiday season with our little family in our new home. Unfortunately, there were other plans we were not prepared for.
on 11/14/2025, we took our furry son, Archie to his local vet due to him not feeling well. They ran many tests but were unable to pinpoint exactly what was going on. We were sent home with medicine for him. After a few days he started to feel better and was back to his normal loving, cuddly, energetic self.
on 11/28/2025 we noticed he was starting to show the same symptoms he was experiencing on our first vet visit, but this time was showing more concerning signs.
on 11/29/2025 we rushed Archie to the Michigan State University Veterinary Medical Center where again more tests were run. On 11/30/2025 we received the worst news we could have gotten… our Archie Budd had lymphoma.
He was not stable enough to return home and we made the hard choice of admitting him into their hospital where he has remained for the past two nights. The goal is to start chemotherapy as early as today.
Archie can come into a room and brighten everyone’s day up. Anyone that has met him knows he is an amazing addition to our family and he truly is not just a part of our family, but he is what makes us a family. It is hard to put into words exactly what Archie means to not just Lain and I, but everyone else that knows him. Even through what he is experiencing right now, every time we get to visit with him he greets us with as much excitement as he can, and he comforts us as we struggling to understand the reasons.
Lain and I have paid $4,000 out of pocket thus far, and we refuse to give up on him and want to give him the best chance he can have at continuing to live his best life. With him being so young (age 6) they think he will tolerate chemotherapy well, and dogs can tolerate chemotherapy better than humans. It is a no brainer for us to start Chemotherapy with our boy, but as it stands they are thinking he will need chemotherapy once a week with a cost estimate of $400-$500 dollars a treatment.
At this point in time anything helps. Even if you cannot donate we would appreciate prayers as we continue to do all we can to help bring our boy home. We will plan on keeping everyone updated that wants to be. Thank you for taking your time to read through all this, and we hope everyone has a safe and happy Holiday season.
Love, Archie, Poppy, Lain, and Jared.
