Fundraising for Arabesque - A Short Film
Donation protected
My name is Evan Suk, I am a filmmaker and senior film major at Syracuse University, raising funds for my senior thesis film Arabesque.
I am a director, cinematographer and editor from Brookline Massachusetts, currently in the process of pursuing a B.F.A in Film and Media Arts at Syracuse University. I primarily work in narrative fiction as well as experimental video.
About the Film
When a devastating injury sidelines Julia from continuing her studies as a dance student, Julia must confront her own insecurities for the first time. Her mental journey takes her back to harrowing moments from her childhood, re-examining what it means to perform for others and herself.
With this film I am tackling a much more personal and grounded story than in my previous work. Film has always helped me to work through my own difficulties in life and discover new things about myself. With the story of Julia, I’m hoping to introduce a character who struggles with the same things I’ve experienced in my life and hopefully offer a window for people to see those struggles represented in a way that could help them the way films have helped me throughout my life. In this pursuit I will be utilizing all of the skills and methods I have learned and studied during my time at Syracuse University, as well as the amazing connections I’ve made along the way, to make this the best possible version of this film that it can be.
