Annie’s Story:

Hi Everyone we started this Emergency Go Fund Me Page to raise funds for my 20 Year Old Daughter Annie's Upcoming Medical Expenses that are NOT covered by my insurance even with her Medical Diagnosis. She is starting treatment on 10/3/25.
I wanted to share some things about her. Annie is a sweet, smart , strong , very compassionate for others and a selfless human being .She was an All-Star Cheerleader from 10 years old till 17 years old. She is a D2 Summit Cheerleading Champion and Cheered for Tottenville High Schools Cheerleading Team for 2 years as well. While being a dedicated athlete she graduated High School with Honors in June 2024 and was excited to be going to Coastal Carolina University in South Carolina in the Fall of 2024. We moved her in to her Dorm in August 2024 and although she was 12 hours away from home she was excited to start this next chapter of her life.
Annies Nightmare started Two months later on 10/23/2024 I received a phonecall from Annie that she was having alot of pain on her Right Side going into her back. She went to the Campus Clinic who told her that she had Blood in her Urine and that she needed to go to the Hospital that she possibly had a Kidney Infection. I was fortunate that her Grandparents live 20 minutes from Campus to pick her up and bring her to the ER. Annie had a Cat Scan and was told might be a Kidney Infection They gave her antibiotics and told her she could go back to school . One week later on 10/30/24 at 9 pm I got a Frantic Facetime Call from Annie telling me she was in the most excruciating pain she has ever felt in life, I told her she needed to get to the Hospital immediately which she was blessed not only to have her boyfriend at the same school but his roomate was kind enough to drive her to the ER. The Hospital did another CT Scan and Labs and this time she was informed that she had blood and crystals in her urine and that her Right Kidney was very swollen and she needed to be seen by a Urologist in the next 24 hours. 3 Hours after that phone call on 10/31/24 Brian and I were on a plane to South Carolina and We Picked her up from College and then to stay at her Grandparents House and on 11/1/24 She was taken to see a Local Urologist who did another CT scan where we were told Annie had a 3 mm Kidney Stone that was stuck in the Right Side of her Ureter and that she needed Surgery to have it removed . We were told that the Procedure Lithotripsy would be done to blast the stone to break it up so she could pass it . Annie was given heavy pain medication to help her through until surgery on 11/5/24 .When I met with the surgeon I was told that they could not do the original procedure because the stone was too close to her Fallopian tube so he was going to do a Cytoscopy to get it out. Two hours after she was taken for surgery the Doctor called me to tell me there was a complication that because her Right Kidney was so swollen that is caused the ureter to be swollen shut with the kidney stone inside that it was embedded. A balloon procedure had to be done so he could laser it out and insert a bladder stent that Annie had to keep in her for 2 weeks . While recovering at her grandparents even with pain medication she had alot of pain and discomfort. 3 days before she came home for Thanksgiving Break she went back to the Hospital to be put under anesthesia to have the stent removed . Still having pain and discomfort Annie came home for the Winter Break in December. After Christmas Annie started complaining that she was having pain on her Right and Left Side and traveling up her back into her shoulders. Took her for an Abdominal and Kidney Ultrasound where it showed she had stones in both kidneys. We were taken back as how did this happen a month after her surgery . The fact that she got the first stone baffled us as Annie drinks only water, no soda, no iced tea, no fried foods, eats healthy . She returned to College in daily pain in January 2025. I scheduled a follow up with the Urologist that did her surgery to find out what was going on with Annie. On 1/15/25 The Doctor did an Xray and said she has 2 -2mm stones in the Right and Left Kidney that they were non-obstructive and that they would have to pass on there own. 7 days later I received another frantic call from Annie that she was in excruciating pain like she was in November I told her to get to the Hospital. Another CT scan was done only to say that she had non obstructive stones and that is not what is causing the severe pain on her Right and Left side and Pelvic and Back pain. My Daughter had to go back to her Dorm in pain with no answers. It was at that time that it was decided that she could not be 12 hours away from us , that she needed to be home so we can figure out what was going on with her medically . Annie did not want to fall behind or lose credits so she decided She would have to enroll to do online school when she came back to New York. We did a Medical Withdrawal a few days later we drove 12 hours to South Carolina and moved her out of college on 2/1/25. From then Annie was seen by a Local Urologist who did yet another CT scan and a Abdominal Ultrasound but now results said" Non-Enlarged Lymphnodes in the Mesentery possible Adenitis and was told her pain is not coming from the stones. He recommended Annie to see a GI Specialist who did a Colonoscopy on my then 19 year old. Still No answers and then he recommended she see an Oncologist because of her lymphnodes who did a massive amount of bloodwork only to come back with “Labs look ok.” She was then recommended due to the shooting pain in her knees running down to her feet to see a Rheumatologist who stated she was an athlete for many years and even though she had not cheered in 2 years her knees could be telling her to exercise and strengthen them . Annie was tested for Lymes Disease , Mono and countless other illnesses Watching your child having daily pain and the new symptom of severe migraine headaches 2-3 times a week …feeling helpless and no answers, multiple trips to the ER always hearing pain cant be coming from non-obstructive stones. We now had a Big Binder Book filled with Multiple Bloodwork results, Urinalysis Results, Multiple Cat Scans done in 6 months , Multiple Ultrasounds that we traveled from specialist to specialist with..
On a Trip to the ER in April 2025 Annie had white tissue like substance coming out of her , we were told she is probably finally passing the non-obstructive kidney stones. Annie was having terrible Pelvic Pain she went through the motions of bloodwork and labs only to be told everything looks ok , but this ER visit was different . Annie was blessed that night that the Nurse that was taking care of her mentioned something that no one had, she said she had terrible pelvic pain for years and that the disease Endometriosis does not show up on CT Scans , Blood Work or Ultrasounds that she should maybe see a GYN doctor. We did just that and when Annie was asked how long was she having pelvic pain and heavy painful periods as well Annie said the last couple of months have been really bad, The response was endometriosis doesnt just happen in 3 months, the Doctor gave Annie the name of a Reproductive/Endometriosis Doctor to have a consult if Annie wanted to do that and would put her on BC Pills to help with heavy painful periods but was also told she would give her muscle relaxer to try when she has really bad pain in her knees and if the pain subsides then we wil know it was muscular pain . The problem was that Annie had painful heavy periods for the past 2 years but thought that was normal.
We got an appointment in June 2025 to see the Reproductive Endocrinologist that specializes in Endometriosis who after reading through all of the documents in Annies Medical Records Binder brought up one of the Ultrasounds That Annie had 3 years ago when she was 16 yrs old. It had the wording " Focal Point near the Uterus possible Nabothian Cyst OR Adenosis MRI is recommended" He then explained that Adenosis is the Brother of Endometriosis, We were never to informed there was a possible issue for her on that test so that she could be sent for an MRI to look into what was found , This Specialist ran some tests and Annie was hit with a Bombshell. He was 95 % sure she had Endometriosis, He said he was concerned because her ovaries were very small for a 20 year old and the AMH Blood test he did that shows how your Ovaries are functioning that was done for a 20 year the number should have been a 5... Annies number was a 1.5 ( a 38 year olds ovaries) he said she would have to have Laproscopic surgery to get a Diagnosis and remove the Endometriosis diseased tissue, The Plan would be after the surgery to give her the Best Chance at having children one day would be to start with 2 rounds of Cryo freezing of her Eggs which would mean Annie will have to do for each round done consecutively 10 days of Fertility Shots each round with heavy duty side effects , sonograms every 3 days during those shots and then going under anesthesia two times to have the surgery of harvesting eggs that are produced now and can be stored for 25 years and then put her on Progesteone to stop her monthly menstral cycle to prevent the disease from growing and Medically Manage her Pain with Medications. .......Second Bombshell No insurances covers any of the above even with a Diagnosis. All monies have to be paid upfront in advance ..... The cost of all of this ,plus the cost of keeping her eggs frozen on a yearly basis , the cost of the monthly medications is Astronomical.....
Just when we thought things could not get worse . Annie underwent Laproscopic Surgery on 8/13/25 and we were hit with the devastating news that Annie has Severe Stage 3 Endometriosis. It was all on her Right and Left Side , it was on her Uterus , It was wrapped around her Appendix, It was by her Colon . He also said her Right Fallopian tube is swollen and permanently damaged and will eventually have to be removed . The doctor could not remove all of it as she has Endometriosis that is covering blood vessels that if he would have went a mm to close to them if he would have nicked them it would have killed her . The Kidney Stones issue that started all on the right side , she went through I in my heart now believe and have researched that kidney stones can be caused by the Endometriosis if near the organs connected to the kidneys

Annie still has daily severe pelvic pain and back pain and will have to have at least 3-4 more surgeries because of this and will have to be Medically Managed with Medications for the rest of her life . The Doctor also stated for the severity of her Endometriosis and the damage that has been done to Annie ,,,, this absolutely had to have erupted in her at least 2 years or more ago .... Hence the Ultrasound done 3 years ago detecting the possibility of this issue that all of this damage and pain she has been put through for a year now could have been avoided and prevented if we were notified of it
