On 6/22/25, Anita went to the Emergency Room feeling short of breath, thinking she had pneumonia. The news that she received shortly after the doctors sent her for testing was not what she nor her family was expecting. The doctor came into the room and told them they had found a large mass on her lung and they needed to keep her for more testing.
The next day, they did a biopsy of her lung and surrounding lymph nodes to see what was going on. A few days later, the results came back—it was the worst-case scenario: Small Cell Lung Cancer.
Anita received her port last Friday and saw the Oncologist today, 7/1. She starts chemo next Tuesday, three times a week for the next month and a half. She also has a consultation for radiation as well as many other appointments and scans in the next few weeks.
Anita has been out of work since her hospitalization and her husband has to be out of work most of the time to take care of her, so they will have bills as well as expenses that will need help to be covered while she is receiving treatment as she also has no insurance as well at this time.
Anita has always been a hardworking person. She was working the day before she was hospitalized, and she would keep working if this didn't have her down.
Even if you aren't able to donate, prayers, or even a share of the link would be appreciated.
We will update this thread as her journey through treatment continues on.
