Hi everyone. My name is Angel Enerson. I am asking for help for my family and me.
On June 29, 2025 all of a sudden I lost use of my left side of body. I couldn't walk, talk, or stand up. My husband took me to our local hospital where they discharged me unable to work, walk, or talk and said it was due to a migraine. On July 4, l had my son bring me back to the ER due to seizure-like episodes.
Again, they sent me home and said it was migraines. I followed up with my neurologist from UIC and he said the same thing. At that point, I had drop foot, couldn't hold anything in my right hand, and was choking when I drank anything. I got in to Northwestern’s neurologist on July 28. Within 20 minutes, I was a direct admit to Northwestern’s hospital. I was there for 6 days.
I went through a number of tests including a lumbar puncture, blood work, multiple CTs and MRls of my brain and spine. They did find issues within my neck and upper back in the spinal cord. I came home on a Saturday and had to go back that Wednesday because I had a spinal fluid leak and had to get a blood patch epidural. I was off work for a month and with having 3 kids and back to school season it's been hard.
I am using a cane and walker to get around. I am in therapy 3 times a week (OT and PT) I am supposed to be in speech therapy but no one nearby does it and l am not comfortable driving far away with everything going on. I have days I am good. But days like today, I can't get my foot off the floor and my fingers will not work.
I am currently back at work due to being out of FMLA. The doctors are leaning towards the diagnosis of MS or functional neurological disorder. I have more testing in the next few months at Northwestern’s location in downtown Chicago as it's a long journey to get a diagnosis.
If you’re able to donate to my family for medical bills, and just bills in general to help support the kids, we would really appreciate it.
