Hello! As many of you know that Andre suffered a spinal cord injury in March of 2023. Since then he has gone through rehabilitation at Craig Hospital and continues to do outpatient physical training at Neuability. He was on a wait list for a clinical trial, literally everywhere! We finally received a call from the University Of Utah in Salt Lake City, UT. The procedure itself is cost free however, the transportation and lodging will need to come out of our pockets. We will need to accommodate for income loss during this time frame. This is an important clinical trial for Andre as the possibility of recovering hand function is the goal!

A little information of the procedure is a nerve implant from the spinal cord itself to the arms, in hopes of regaining hand function/ mobility. As the healing and follow up work come along, Andre will need to return to Utah at least once a year for 2-3 years to really understand the outcome.

The funds will used for a rental car to transport Andre to Utah as flying is not a reliable option, airlines are not adequately trained to handle power wheelchairs and we do not want to take a risk in damages. The other expense will be an accessible Air BNB or Hotel that can adjust to Andre's needs while he is in Utah.

The unfortunate night of March 22, 2023 took so much away from him. It took his independence, his confidence, his mental health and more. With just regaining hand function he will be able to feed himself, open doors, grab his phone, drive again, go back to work, and mobilize his chair freely without fully depending on us. These are tasks that we take for granted on daily bases so as you can imagine being without these functions how much it affects your well being.
