To Family and Friends,
Auto Immune diseases suck! Around 2 years ago my mom, Andrea, was diagnosed with non-curable idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis. IPF is a chronic, progressive, and unfortunately incurable disease that leaves heavy scarring on the lung tissue making it difficult to breathe. In my mother’s case, it has progressed to the point that it’s cost her a job, housing, and her quality of life. Treatment is limited. She has been on oxygen therapy since diagnosis, along with a slew of other medications to attempt to slow the progression but there is no treatment that can stop or reverse lung scarring for IPF patients. At this point, all options have been exhausted and we are quickly approaching a time where she will have to undergo a lung transplant. While this operation typically helps patients get back to living a happier, healthier life, it is still a very serious and costly operation that no one could plan for.
Until Andrea gets through the long process of getting approved for a lung transplant, medical bills are stacking up and her ability to support herself and her children (Max and Viggo) financially has become extremely difficult. I encourage everyone to give what they can to help my mom get the treatment she needs so she can focus on healing and taking care of her two young sons. Anything helps!
Thank you all for your generosity.
