Hello, my name is Rochelle Dukes and I'm here today humbly for my mother, Amelia Dukes, who is battling Adenoid Carcinoma Cancer. Our mother started her career as a Sous Chef at the Grand Casino Resort in Robinsonville, MS. She always loved cooking and catering for family and friends. All who had her delicious food always came back for more, and she didn't mind feeding anybody doing birthday celebrations, weddings, and many gatherings. You name it, from August 1996 till 2005, she became sick and found out she had throat cancer. Our mom stayed strong and began taking radiation and chemotherapy in Oxford, Mississippi. After all of her treatments, she went into remission and started feeling like herself again, loving dancing and listening to her favorite playlist.

After all this sunshine, here comes 10 years later. She's getting ill again, this time catching colds and doing a lot of heavy coughing. So we immediately returned to her doctors that had previously taken care of her. This time, they did testing, and it came back with results as lung cancer stage 4. We were told that they didn't have the protocol to help with this, so me and my sister started researching and looking for cancer centers. We had a choice to go to New York, Chicago, or Texas. We decided to go to Chicago since we were originally from there and had family residing there. To our surprise, my cousin works at the location. Once they spoke with my mom and got her tests going, they came up with a plan to remove part of her right lung. This was very scary for me; mom, she's a tough cookie, I'm the scaredy-cat. After they decided to go ahead with the surgery, it was a successful procedure. Over time, she healed and came back for scans every 3 months, and she was doing great.

So time passes again, and now it's January of 2024. We get scans done, and now the cancer has come back in her pancreas. It's called Adenoid Carcinoma Cancer. At this point, she's been on 3 different treatments, and the only thing I've seen is all her hair coming out and being in a lot of pain most days. But she still remains strong and still fighting this ugly thing called cancer. I'm asking anyone who will help out with expenses for medical bills, travel, and also food.
