On 5-15-25 my dear friend Amber experienced sudden upper back pain that rapidly progressed into right-sided paralysis. I called 911, and she was rushed to the hospital under a stroke code. Thanks to a quick-thinking ER doctor, she was sent for an emergency MRI, which revealed a far more complex and urgent issue.
After multiple scans and worsening paralysis in all four limbs, doctors suspected a spinal abscess. Amber was taken into emergency surgery, where a neurosurgeon discovered a spinal blood clot along with a serious infection. The surgery was successful, but Amber remains in the ICU at the hospital, beginning what will be a long and challenging road to recovery.
Right now, she has some sensation in her legs but remains unable to move them. Her arms are extremely weak—she couldn’t even hold her phone today. Despite this, Amber’s spirit remains strong. She is the most selfless and kind-hearted person I know—always willing to drop everything to help someone else.
Now, she needs our help.
This unexpected medical emergency has brought not only physical and emotional challenges, but also a heavy financial burden. The funds raised will go toward:
• Medical bills not covered by insurance
• Rehabilitation and physical therapy
• Home modifications to accommodate a wheelchair
• Medical equipment and transportation needs
• Daily living support during her recovery
Amber didn’t want to ask for help—she even tried to refuse the ambulance out of concern for the cost. But now is the time for her community to show up for her the way she’s always shown up for others.
If you can contribute financially, we are deeply grateful. If not, please consider sending a prayer, a message of support, or visiting when she’s able to receive guests.
Thank you for helping us surround Amber with love, strength, and support during this critical time.
