My sister, Amber, is facing Stage 3B cervical cancer, and the last week has changed our world.
After 2 months of trying to manage symptoms at home while waiting for insurance approval, she went to the ER for weakness, her hemoglobin dropped to 3.8 she recieved 5 units of blood transfusions before she could be admitted to the hospital.
Doctors discovered that the tumor is blocking her kidneys, causing severe complications. She now requires multiple nephrostomy tubes, her pain, mobility, and daily life have drastically changed.
We are waiting to meet with the doctor to discuss further options in regards to chemo and radiation and her desire to remain present and comfortable for her children.
Amber is now home, surrounded by her kids who love her deeply, but the emotional and physical weight of this situation is overwhelming. We’re doing everything we can to keep her comfortable, support her dignity, and help her children navigate what is happening.
Amber has always been the first person to help others. At her thrift store, Then & Again, she created a “no questions asked” policy for anyone in need of:
Free clothes
Free blankets
A community food pantry
Quiet support for families who had nowhere else to turn
She has poured her heart into serving her community without ever asking for anything in return.
Now, she needs help.
Your donations would go directly toward:
Medical bills and supplies
Legal fees to secure guardianship for her four children to keep them together and not in foster care to ensure their safety and security with family that will love and protect them as their own children.
Counseling for her children as they cope with the emotional impact of their mother’s illness
Any unforeseen emergencies during her palliative care
Christmas gifts for her kids during what may be their last Christmas together
Our goal is to make Amber’s remaining time as peaceful, dignified, and love-filled as possible — without the fear of financial or legal uncertainty.
If you can help…
Any amount makes a difference.
If you can’t donate, sharing this link means the world to us.
Amber has spent years giving to others.
Now we are asking for a little help to give back to her.
Psalm 46:1
“God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in times of trouble.”
From the bottom of our hearts — thank you.
