Amber Lords is only 45 years old. She is an amazing wife, mom, grandma, sister, daughter, coworker, and friend. She is loved by everyone who meets her as she is warm, loving, and has the most positive outlook on life. She prioritizes her health as she is an avid participant in 75 hard, enjoys yoga, camping and hiking, and spoiling and spending time with her grandchildren. Despite her wholesome lifestyle, in 2017 my mom was diagnosed with “CNS tumor with BCOR internal tandem duplication, with documented EP300:BCOR fusion” on her brain. This tumor is the most rare tumor in the world with less than 50 cases ever reported worldwide.

For 8 years now, all of us have watched my mom go through multiple brain surgeries and constant chemo, and radiation to try to fight this condition. She has already endured life long complications due to the numerous surgery’s she has underwent. Eight years later, she is still stuck in the same vicious cycle every year to try and fight this tumor.

I am making this GoFundMe because I am tired of watching my mom go through the same daunting cycle of surgery, chemo and radiation every year, with a declining prognosis. It is time to get a different set of eyes on this rather than the same team and same eyes we have had for the last 8 years. By doing this, I’m hoping it will get word out to more people or experts who will be interested in this and reach out. It is one of the most rare tumors in the world, I want to bring light to this condition in order to find someone who is willing to do everything they can to help us figure this out.

The first step of this journey is an appointment with a specialist at the Mayo Clinic in Phoenix, Arizona, coming up in 2 weeks. They are not taking insurance so the initial out of pocket cost is $5,000 upfront to be seen. We are continuing research and trying to get East Coast Cancer clinics involved in this journey as well. Money raised will help with both out of pocket medical expenses, as well as travel expenses to hopefully see the specialists we are able to get her to see.
