My name is Nicole C Nestor, and on the 9th of October, I went into preterm labor at 26 weeks. I had delivered twin girls weighing 1lb 10oz and 1lb 8oz, respectively. Nevaeh (Twin 2) passed away 25 hours after delivery. She was diagnosed with Respiratory distress due to a pneumothorax (collapsed lung). Twin 1 is still being admitted to the special care baby unit at the Okeu Hospital. After 7 days of life, doctors found that she has a heart murmur. Upon investigation, Alora (Twin1) has a Patent ductus arteriosus (PDA), which is a persistent opening between the two major blood vessels leading from the heart. The heart problem is present from birth. That means it is a congenital heart defect. She also has an Atrial Septal Defect (ASD), which is a hole in the wall that divides the two upper chambers of the heart. We are currently looking for alternative care for our baby girl at Tapion Hospital. We are seeking assistance with funds to facilitate that. Our little girl is a fighter, and despite her challenges, she is showing incredible resilience. We are trying our best to give her the immediate attention she needs.
