Update on Allison: Our beautiful warrior has been through so much in the past year. It’s hard to know what updates to share. She has had countless rounds of various chemotherapy treatments. She does not qualify for surgery & will never qualify for surgery to remove the large tumor in her jaw. She experiences a lot of pain all the time. She cannot open her mouth very much because the cancer ruined her jaw. She is in so much debt with MD Anderson that they threatened to take her off of the clinical trial that seemed to be helping her. Any amount helps. Any amount at all. Thank you all for your support.
Friends, I come to you to ask for your help. Our beautiful daughter, Allison Urista, has received a devastating diagnosis. Initially, she was without insurance so the financial burden quickly added up. The out of pocket expenses have totaled over $25,000 at this point. That amount got us to an official diagnosis of osteosarcoma (bone cancer). Now she has a “limited benefit” insurance. We do not fully know what this plan will cover. We are hopeful that it will relieve some of the burden of medical expenses. She is a strong, hardworking woman and would love nothing more than to continue working. With this diagnosis, she is scheduled for surgery followed by radiation. Tonight, we found out that she has 3 spots on her lungs. This may change the course of action. She will need a biopsy to confirm whether this is a spread or something else. Her oncologist will meet with the surgeons to determine whether they should still proceed with the surgery that’s scheduled for next week or if another route should be taken. She needs relief from the financial landslide that is occurring (with or without insurance). She has many appointments, copays, parking fees, and deductibles she is having to meet. She is about to have to fully surrender to her diagnosis and will likely be unable to work at all for a while. Please consider helping. Pray, donate, and share her GoFundMe. Thank you for your kindness.
