My name is Kento. To start, thank you for taking the time to read this - it means a lot. Alena is the love of my life and she’s an amazing person that brightens the day of anyone that has the pleasure of interacting with her. She is very loved by her friends, her coworkers, and many of the residents at the retirement community she works at.

Alena is an incredibly hard worker and she loves what she does. She’s compassionate, genuine, and kind. She’s a people pleaser. She had recently begun school again and was working towards her associate degree at Bellevue College while also working full-time at a retirement community. Alena and I had also recently gotten engaged in November. Things were going well.

Shortly after our trip, Alena was experiencing many health symptoms such as fatigue, high inflammation, and bone pain, so we went to get checked out. After several weeks of testing, we were devastated to learn that she has stage 2 lymphoma, a blood cancer in the lymphatic system. She was formally diagnosed in March. After a couple of weeks of preliminary testing, Alena officially began her chemotherapy treatment in April. The chemo infusions have been taking a massive toll on her body. She’s highly fatigued, has constant headaches and nausea, is unable to eat much due to the pain in her mouth, and as the treatment cycles go on, these symptoms will continue and some will likely become more severe. It hurts me deeply to see her in such pain.

She’s such a strong person and she will continue to fight through this. I will be in her corner 24/7 to make sure she has all the support she needs to get through this cancer. Despite everything, she tries her hardest to remain in good spirits.

Unfortunately, chemotherapy is very expensive and the bills are already starting to pile up. Her family and I are doing everything we can to raise the funds for current and future treatment needs as well as living expenses during possible medical leaves. It would be amazing to see if the GoFundMe community could support Alena in her battle against cancer.
