Alejandro Brown's Healing Journey

Hello everyone!

My dad, Alejandro Brown, has asked me to create a GoFundMe for him.

My dad let me know he was having some symptoms (bloody stool and diarrhea). As his oldest, I encouraged him to get checked out because the information he confided in me was concerning. I told him it seemed like symptoms of colon cancer and he needed to go get checked out.

On Tuesday, October 29th, my dad was admitted for an emergent colonoscopy. They confirmed he had a mass the size of a lemon. On November 1st, they removed the tumor and confirmed it was stage 2 colon cancer.

My dad was on the road to recovery, but due to him having cancer and his weight, he was at a 40-50% higher risk for complications. Unfortunately, he went septic and was intubated for a week while his body fought sepsis and he went into septic shock.

After a week of intubation, he was finally woken up on November 15th. He is currently on dialysis as needed, but his recovery will now be a lot longer than originally anticipated, preventing him from returning to work this year.

This has all been very hard on him, physically and mentally, but he said he knows now is not the time for pride.
