Hi! My name is Ryan Sung, and I’m a native of El Paso, Texas, and a graduate of Princeton University’s Scholars in the Nation’s Service Initiative, where I spent two years working in public service. Inspired by my studies and a deep desire to contribute meaningfully, I seek to continue a life in public service as a diplomat - representing the best of the United States while working to build understanding across borders.

Having lived in five countries and traveled extensively across four continents, I’ve come to believe that understanding the world begins not with policies or capitals, but with people. And what better place to start than my home turf: the Americas.

This June, I will embark on a journey from Anchorage, Alaska to Ushuaia, Argentina - through every country and territory in between, all without flying. Along the way, I will be creating a documentary and portrait series titled 'People of the Americas,' centered on the individuals and communities I encounter. From rural villages and Indigenous communities to major cities, I’ll be speaking with farmers, teachers, artists, truck drivers, and financiers - people whose stories are rarely told together.

At the heart of this project is one guiding question: “In a world where division is often the norm, what still brings us together?”

Throughout the journey, I’ll be documenting my experience through a public vlog and sharing interviews and photography along the way. Your support will help cover travel, filming, and photography costs, and ensure these stories can be shared with a wider audience.

Me llamo Ryan Sung, soy de El Paso, Texas, y soy egresado de la Scholars in the Nation’s Service Initiative de la Universidad de Princeton, donde pasé dos años trabajando en el servicio público. A partir de mis estudios y de un fuerte deseo de aportar algo positivo, quiero seguir una carrera en el servicio público como diplomático, representando lo mejor de Estados Unidos y ayudando a tender puentes entre países.

Después de vivir en cinco países y viajar por cuatro continentes, llegué a una conclusión sencilla: entender el mundo no empieza con políticas ni capitales, sino con las personas. ¿Y qué mejor lugar para empezar que América?
