Donate to Alannah's Battle with Rare Blood Cancer

Hi everyone, this is not an easy thing for me to do as many of you know I don't ask anyone for anything. As a matter of fact, if you really know me, you know I'm always down to help someone in any way possible. But as many of you know, this entire year has been hard on me and my family.

As many of you know, I have 3 little girls I have had for almost 7 years now, given to me through Onondaga Child Protective Services to help a friend out. This was supposed to be a temporary situation, but unfortunately, the parents of the girls could just not get it together to be able to get the girls back. So with that said, I have been taking care of the girls on my own ever since then with all of their needs, including health insurance. The girls were never eligible for benefits through the state as I was not a registered foster parent and I made too much $$$ to have anything given to me. This was all according to OCDSS. Onondaga County DSS stated they can't help me because I live in Oneida County, and Oneida County stated the kids are not their responsibility as they did not remove them. So the girls always ended up on the back burner from the system. So I managed to give them EVERYTHING I COULD OVER THE YEARS AS THEY ARE MY WORLD AND I WOULDN'T CHANGE A THING. I worked 2-3 jobs at all times to give the girls the life they deserve.

Unfortunately, over the last year, my youngest baby kept getting sick every week. We went to either her PCP for a sick visit or urgent care and were always told something is going around and given standard meds and sent home. For the last 8 months, I knew something wasn't right with my baby as she was always an energized bunny. So I kept asking for more testing and whatnot. I was told she had a blood disorder where her body does not produce enough red blood cells. She underwent different infusions and IV treatments, including 3 rounds of chemotherapy over the summer. Then they stopped it and said she did not need it, just to receive other IV antibiotics and such. She was a trooper through all this, but she started to complain about headaches, bone pains, being unable to walk for more than 2 minutes, couldn't be in the park for long, gets pain in her body, constant belly ache, bruising all over like she was in a fight, can't walk down the stairs sometimes, mood swings off the charts.

I had to take her to Syracuse several times in the last 4 months and AFTER all of this and fighting for more testing, it finally was determined Alannah has AML (a rare and fast-growing blood cancer that affects the bone marrow in children). Providers in Syracuse have sent her to Rochester, and this is where we will have to go at least 2 days a week for the first few weeks till the treatment plan is all figured out. She will have to get infusions to keep up with somewhat normal blood count, and antibiotics, and whatever else we need for right now. All of this is just too much to deal with at the moment for me, but I have no choice as I will never give up on the girls. So because of constant appointments out of town and not knowing how Alannah will be on a day-to-day basis, I have no choice but to quit one of my two jobs to make sure I am always available for her needs. So this means I won't have the income I had before to provide for all 3 girls and pay all the copays and back and forth to appointments. If we have to stay there, yes, that's free. My biggest worry right now is the copays from her insurance as I can't enroll her in any other plan till the end of January, but even then it still is not free insurance and will have copays as well, just a little less than now. Please, if you are able to donate, every $ counts for us right now, at least for some stress to be taken off me as I prepare for this long journey ahead of me and my family. Thank you all in advance.
