Amy has a lovely greyhound named AJ which is her life. AJ shattered his leg doing his normal zoomies. Not sure if they could save his leg, they did surgery and connected the bones with metal plates. AJ developed a horrid infection and after trying a number of antibiotics (and having to go in for bandage changes every couple of days), found the right one to fight off the infection.

Now into the third week, the choices are having to face another surgery to clear the metal plates of the infection so that it does not reoccur, along with bandage changes every few days, or amputate the leg. The first surgery was well over $10K with each bandage change over $500. This does not include medicine, time off work, and anything additional from this point on.
