I’m reaching out to share my story and humbly ask for your support during a challenging time. In August 2024, I was laid off from a job I held for nearly five years, losing my health insurance in the process. At the same time, my health took a serious downturn. Without access to my diabetes and high blood pressure medications, my condition worsened, and complications with my right eye, which had been ongoing, became critical.

In December 2024, I secured health insurance through Covered California and began working multiple jobs as an independent contractor for beauty companies in San Francisco. However, it was not until February 25, 2025, I underwent critical eye surgery on my right eye, which resulted in complete vision loss in that eye. Since then, I’ve relied a lot Uber for transportation and also fearing for my safety, paid for costly medications, and covered health insurance premiums and appointments. On May 13, 2025, I had a second surgery on my right eye, and I’m now in recovery, using six different eye drops to hopefully regain my vision. With another surgery in my near future pending.

As an artist, asking for help doesn’t come easily. The costs of surgeries, recovery, and ongoing medical care have depleted my savings. My work has been limited due to recovery, making it difficult to keep up financially. Thankfully, I have stable housing and supportive friends who’ve helped with food. I’m also working to manage my diabetes, which is now under control, and I have an upcoming appointment with a cardiologist to further prioritize my health.

I’ve always believed in the power of community and have helped others when I could. Now, I find myself in need and am asking for your support. Any contribution toward my ongoing treatment and recovery would mean the world. Your generosity will help me focus on healing and rebuilding my health.
